2010-2011 ACADEMIC YEAR ADMISSION NOTICE

The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education, Bangalore, invites applications from eligible candidates for the following courses. Interested candidates who fulfill the eligible requirements mentioned below may apply.

There are no official application forms. Apply on a plain paper.

1.    SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:

Primary Teacher Training Course ( 2 years & 8 months)
Categories: (In the application please mention the category clearly)
i.    Primary Mathematics, Science and Social Science Teacher Training Course
Eligibility: Minimum Class XII Board Exam pass with 45% aggregate and pass percentage in the subjects mentioned above at class X.
ii.    Primary Tibetan Teacher Training Course:   
Eligibility: Minimum Class XII Board Exam pass with 45% aggregate with 60% in Tibetan.
iii.    Primary English Teacher Training Course
Eligibility: Minimum Class XII Board Exam pass with 45% aggregate % with 60% in English.  
Note:
    In addition to the eligibility requirement, the final selection will be based on the Common Entrance Test and Individual Interviews and group dynamics.
Applicants with undergraduate degrees will be given preference

2.   SCHOOL OF LANGUAGE STUDIES:

Dept. of Tibetan language and Literature  (NEW DEPT – 4 years
This is a NEW DEPARTMENT in the institute starting from the 2010 academic year. This course is designed to give special opportunity for Tibetan students who want to specialize in Tibetan language and literature. The duration of the course is for four years – a bridge year with 3 years of intensive study in Tibetan language and literature. At the end of the course, the students who meet the requirements of the course shall be awarded a degree equivalent to an undergraduate degree from the institute with opportunities to continue higher studies. The students will be taught English, computer applications and other relevant courses that cut across departments in the institute to provide a holistic education.

Eligibility: Minimum Class X board exam pass with 45% aggregate and 50% in Tibetan    
Note:
In addition to the eligibility requirement, the final selection will be based on the Common Entrance Test and Individual Interviews and group dynamics.

3.   SCHOOL OF COMPUTER & INFORMATION SCIENCES

Bachelor of Computer Applications  (BCA) – 3 years
Eligibility: 10+2 or its equivalent examination
This is a new course in the institute starting from the 2010 academic year. This course is offered to give special opportunity for Tibetan students who want to specialize in Computer sciences. The duration of the course is for 3 years.  Basically, the students will enroll in the BCA program of the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, (IGNOU) and upon completion of the course earn 96 credits to be awarded the BCA degree from IGNOU. Computer Instructors will guide the students on a regular basis in the campus to earn the degree. In addition, the students will be taught Tibetan language and culture and other allied courses that cut across departments in the institute to provide a holistic education.

Note:
In addition to the eligibility requirement, the final selection will be based on the Common Entrance Test and Individual Interviews and group dynamics.

•    Copy of the current first and last page of RC
•    Copy of current first and last page of Green Book
•    Copies of certificates and degrees with mark sheets

Common Entrance Test and Interview Schedules for each course:
(Candidates must arrive one day ahead of the schedule)

i.  Primary Teacher Training Courses:      June 16 – 18, 2010    at 9am
ii. Tibetan language and Literature:          June 21 – 22, 2010    at 9am
iii. Bachelor of Computer Applications    June 23 to 24, 2010    at 9am

NOTE:
•    Venue: The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education Academic Center,  (DLIHE) Bangalore
•    Application submission deadline: June 14, 2010
•    Board and lodging charges for the duration of the entrance tests Rs.250/- per day – do apply!
•    Applicants must submit a written scholarship source when joining the institute upon selection
